Svmuu News: According to a prominent Republican lawmaker, Jerome Powell may be absent from the next scheduled congressional hearing, as the U.S. Department of Justice has served a subpoena on Federal Reserve and threatened to bring criminal charges against Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell.Under amendments made in 1978 to the law establishing the Federal Reserve, the Chair of the Federal Reserve is required to testify twice a year at congressional hearings to offer views on monetary policy and the economic outlook. As is customary, the Chair of the Federal Reserve typically attends separate hearings before the Senate Banking Committee and the House Financial Services Committee.Rep.
