Shanghai: The maximum individual housing provident fund loan amount is 1.2 million yuan, and the maximum family housing provident fund loan amount is 2.4 million yuan.
The Shanghai Housing Provident Fund has released a Q&A regarding adjustments to the city’s housing provident fund loan policies. It states that, in accordance with the “Notice on Optimizing the City’s Housing Provident Fund Personal Housing Loan Policies” (Shanghai Housing Provident Fund Management Committee [2026] No. 1), for contributors purchasing their first home in the city, the maximum individual housing provident fund loan amount (including the maximum supplementary housing provident fund loan amount, as applicable below) may reach 1.2 million yuan, and the maximum family housing provident fund loan amount may reach 2.4 million yuan; for the purchase of a second home in the city, the maximum individual housing provident fund loan amount may reach 1 million yuan, and the maximum family housing provident fund loan amount may reach 2 million yuan. At the same time, the maximum loan amount increase ratios for families with multiple children (20% increase) and for the purchase of eligible green buildings (15% increase) remain unchanged. If multiple eligibility criteria for increases are met simultaneously, the increase ratios may be combined, meaning the maximum increase can reach 35%.
