The U.S. has released a new list of sanctions targeting Iran
On February 25 local time, the U.S. Department of the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) updated its “List of Specially Designated Nationals,” imposing sanctions on several individuals, entities, and vessels linked to Iran. The latest round of sanctions targets four Iranian nationals, all of whom are linked to Iran’s aviation industry; several shipping and trading companies based in Iran, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates, Panama, the Marshall Islands, and Liberia have been added to the list, involving Iran’s oil and liquefied gas transportation networks; At least 13 oil tankers and liquefied gas carriers have been subject to sanctions, with the vessels flying the flags of Panama, Palau, Barbados, Vanuatu, the Comoros, and Iran. The U.S. Treasury Department stated that the aforementioned individuals and entities will face asset freezes and restrictions on transactions with the U.S. financial system. (CCTV)
