Bitwise CIO: Bitcoin's decline is due to long positions being liquidated
Svmuu News: Bitwise CIO Matt Hougan posted on X, stating that conspiracy theories have been circulating regarding Binance, Wintermute, an unknown offshore macro hedge fund, Bitcoin’s collapse, and Jane Street. He claimed that the real reason for Bitcoin’s decline was that some institutions long on Bitcoin were liquidating their Bitcoin exposure through spot trading, unwinding leveraged positions, and selling Bitcoin call options. The selling was driven by factors such as the four-year cycle, concerns over quantum computing, and a shift toward AI startups. He noted that the sell-off is largely over, the market is in the process of bottoming out, and it is expected to reach new all-time highs in the future. He described the current situation as a typical crypto winter, followed by a crypto spring, adding that while the public tends to look for scapegoats, the reality is far more mundane.
