U.S. media: If Iran's next leader takes a pragmatic approach, sanctions against Iran may be lifted
Svmuu News Donald Trump The president stated in an interview that, if necessary, U.S. forces intend to sustain attacks on Iran for “four to five weeks,” insisting that Israel and the United States “will have no difficulty” maintaining the intensity of the fighting, while also warning that U.S. forces may suffer further casualties. When asked about plans for a transition of power, Mr. Donald Trump said he hoped Iran’s elite forces—including senior officers of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps who wield significant influence and profit from the current regime—would hand over their weapons to the Iranian people.During the approximately six-minute call, Donald Trump also stated that he had three “very good” candidates to lead Iran, but he refused to disclose their identities. He repeatedly referred to his experiences in Venezuela, which may suggest he believes the methods that worked there could also be applied to Iran.He also stated that he would be willing to lift sanctions against Iran if the country’s new leadership demonstrated a pragmatic and cooperative attitude. However, he declined to explain how—or whether—his government would defend the Iranian people, whom he claimed should overthrow the current government. (Jin Shi)
