The product lead for X clarified that the "paid partnership" label is not intended for prediction markets, but rather to strengthen the disclosure mechanism for commercial content.
Svmuu News: In response to community concerns sparked by X’s announcement of a “Paid Partnership” label feature, Nikita Bier, X’s Product Lead and Solana Advisor, clarified that the feature is not specifically targeted at prediction markets. The “Paid Partnership” label is intended to identify commercial promotional content, and X’s core value lies in providing “the pulse of real people.” While the platform encourages creators and brands to engage in commercial partnerships on X, undisclosed promotional content can undermine the product’s integrity and erode user trust in the content. The new feature will help creators meet regulatory compliance requirements and, more importantly, enhance transparency with their followers by clearly distinguishing commercial partnerships from organic content. He specifically noted, “ 'I love prediction markets (anyway).'"
