ByteDance Suspends Global Release Plan for Seedance 2.0 Due to Copyright Dispute
Svmuu According to The Information citing sources familiar with the matter, ByteDance has suspended its global release plan for the video generation model Seedance 2.0 following copyright disputes with multiple Hollywood studios and streaming platforms. Previously, Disney sent a cease-and-desist letter to ByteDance, accusing it of using Disney characters to train the Seedance 2.0 model without permission. Disney also claimed that ByteDance pre-installed a library of copyrighted characters covering IPs such as Star Wars and Marvel for the model. ByteDance released the model in February this year and originally planned to launch it to global users in mid-March. Currently, its legal team is investigating potential legal issues, and engineers are also adding protective mechanisms to prevent the model from generating content that could lead to intellectual property infringement.
