Address Receiving Funds from Tornado Cash Suspected to be Attacker of CAKE/THE Liquidation Incident on Venus, Profits ~$5.07 Million
Svmuu - According to Onchain Lens, address 0x7a7 received 7,447 ETH (~$16.29 million) from Tornado Cash and is suspected to be the attacker of the CAKE/THE liquidation cascade event on Venus Protocol. The address used ETH as collateral on Aave, borrowed $9.92 million in stablecoins, then accumulated THE and suspected of driving up its price on CEX, then deposited 36.1 million pieces of THE into Venus, lending out BTC, BNB, CAKE and other assets. Approximately 40 minutes later, the price of THE fell, triggering liquidation. This event resulted in Venus incurring $2.15 million in bad debt, of which $1.18 million in CAKE and $1.84 million in THE remained outstanding, and from which the attackers withdrew approximately $5.07 million in assets. The actual profit may have come from a short position on CEX during the price drop.
