Svmuu News As Iran intensifies its strikes on key energy nodes, a large natural gas field within the United Arab Emirates has been set ablaze. Concurrently, US President Trump has issued an appeal to allies, requesting assistance in reopening the Strait of Hormuz.
The drone attack targeting the Shah gas field occurred near the UAE's border with Saudi Arabia. This marks the first time during the conflict that Iran has damaged the country's upstream oil and gas facilities. The UAE government stated that operations at the gas field have been suspended, with no casualties reported at the site. The field is jointly operated by the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company and Texas-based Occidental Petroleum.
Due to threats from multiple drones and missiles, the UAE closed its airspace overnight. Authorities indicated that air traffic had returned to normal by Tuesday morning. Just one day prior to this attack, Iran also struck a fuel depot at Dubai's main airport, causing a large plume of smoke to rise over one of the world's busiest international transportation hubs and leading to brief flight disruptions.
