Svmuu - The Ethernet client team is testing an optional fast confirmation mechanism that could reduce the time some L2 networks and exchanges wait to confirm deposits on the mainnet to about 13 seconds. Writing on X, Ethernet researcher Julian Ma said the proposed Fast Confirmation Rule (FCR) would "reduce Ethernet L1 to L2 or exchange deposits to about 13 seconds, and for most L2s and exchanges, the deposit time would be reduced by 80-98%". The developers say the rule can be adopted without a hard fork, but client-side and API integration is still a work in progress. The client team has begun work on the implementation, and once deployed, nodes will be able to use the rule without network-wide coordination. It is expected that exchanges, Layer 2 services and infrastructure providers will only need to make minor changes to complete the integration. (Cointelegraph)
