US Media: Trump Claims "In-Depth Negotiations" with Iran, Once Close to Holding Direct Talks
Svmuu News According to a report from the Axios website, US President Trump stated in a phone interview that the United States is engaged in "in-depth negotiations" with Iran and is expected to reach an agreement before the Tuesday deadline. "There's a very good chance of a deal, but if they don't make one, I will destroy everything there," he said. When asked if he was concerned about harming innocent civilians, Trump indicated that he believed the Iranian people who oppose their own government would support such strikes to weaken the regime. In the approximately 8-minute phone interview, Trump stated that his envoys, Witkof and Kushner, are conducting intensive negotiations with the Iranian side. Two sources involved in the negotiations said the communication was carried out both through intermediaries such as Pakistan, Egypt, and Turkey, and via text messages between Trump's advisors and Iranian Foreign Minister Araghchi. "The negotiations are going well, but dealing with the Iranians is always difficult to reach the finish line," Trump said. He also claimed that a few days ago, the two sides were once close to reaching an agreement to hold direct talks. "But they said to meet again in five days. I asked, why five days? I don't think they were serious enough. So I attacked that bridge," Trump said. (Jin10)
