Svmuu News According to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), some enforcement actions against crypto companies have not directly protected investors and involve misunderstandings of federal securities laws.
The SEC disclosed that it has initiated 95 related enforcement actions since the 2022 fiscal year, involving approximately $2.3 billion in fines. In some of these cases, no actual investor harm was found, nor did they result in significant protection or benefits. The regulator noted that such enforcement reflects, to some extent, a tendency to prioritize "quantity over quality" and misallocation of resources.
Under the leadership of current Chairman Paul Atkins, the SEC stated it has adjusted its enforcement focus, shifting from pursuing case volume to concentrating on behaviors with greater impact on investors, such as fraud and market manipulation. Data shows that enforcement actions against public companies (including those in the crypto sector) in the 2025 fiscal year decreased by about 30% compared to the previous year. (Cointelegraph)
