Svmuu News: Telegram founder Pavel Durov announced that The Open Network (TON) has completed a major upgrade, increasing block generation speed by 6 times and overall performance by approximately 10 times. Transaction confirmation time has been reduced to sub-second levels, achieving a "near-instant" transaction experience.
TON officials stated that this upgrade is based on the advancement of Catchain 2.0. The previous confirmation time of about 10 seconds limited the experience of instant payments and application responsiveness. This upgrade will make "completing payments as easily as sending messages" possible. Additionally, TON mentioned that a higher block generation frequency will increase validator rewards and enhance staking incentives.
Pavel Durov stated that this upgrade is the first step in the "Make TON Great Again" seven-step plan. The next phase will further reduce transaction fees by approximately 6 times. (The Block)
