Svmuu News: Paradis Labs posted on X, stating that South Korea’s humanoid robot supply chain is crucial to the upcoming increase in humanoid robot production.
GS forecasts that by 2035, 30% of humanoid robot components will come from South Korea, as the country’s automotive industry experience can be leveraged to build production capacity for humanoid robot parts such as actuators. Actuators essentially mimic human muscles and joints and currently account for about 50% of a humanoid robot’s bill of materials. South Korea holds an advantage in actuator production because the relevant technology is similar to that used in automotive components such as power steering, braking systems, and autonomous vehicle technology.
GS noted that several South Korean automotive parts manufacturers have leveraged this expertise to establish themselves as major non-Chinese suppliers of critical robot actuators.
Paradis Labs noted that, in terms of upstream humanoid robot exposure, South Korea appears poised to play a significant role among non-Chinese key suppliers for humanoid robots, while also occupying a key position in the AI supply chain through the memory businesses of SK hynix and Samsung.
