Svmuu News: The ENS DAO has approved a proposal to activate a new Security Committee for a two-year term. The committee consists of eight members and holds veto power, allowing it to revoke a proposal during the waiting period after a malicious proposal has been passed but before it is executed. The committee’s authority is limited to canceling transactions within the time lock; it cannot access treasury funds, submit proposals, or rewrite approved proposals. The committee may exercise its powers only under emergency conditions specified in its charter. ENS notes that governance itself can become a potential attack surface: voting rights can be borrowed to launch attacks, proposal code can conceal malicious behavior, and compromised credentials can be used to push harmful transactions. The new committee employs a 5-of-8 multi-signature mechanism, requiring at least five members to agree before a proposal can be revoked; its two-year term must be extended via a DAO vote.
