Svmuu News: While attending the “Silicon Valley Venture Capital Meetup” in San Francisco, U.S., South Korean President Lee Jae-myung stated that South Korea-U.S. cooperation should go beyond the long-standing security alliance and expand further into the fields of technology, innovation, and startups.
Lee Jae-myung noted that the United States possesses world-class venture capital capabilities and a global network, while South Korea boasts technological strength, manufacturing competitiveness, and a robust startup ecosystem. He added that combining the strengths of both countries is expected to give rise to global innovative companies such as the “next-generation Samsung, Hyundai, SK, and Naver.” He also called on U.S. venture capital firms to expand their investments in South Korea, adding that South Korea will improve its visa system and strengthen cooperation between domestic and foreign companies, research institutions, and investment firms. Additionally, through the coordination of fund-of-funds, the National Growth Fund, pension funds, and private capital, South Korea will support its startups in growing into global enterprises.
On the same day, participating venture capital firms also signed a memorandum of understanding with the National Pension Service of Korea. (Yonhap News)
