Former U.S. President Donald Trump stated that tariffs have saved General Motors (GM). However, GM's July 21 quarterly filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) estimates that Trump's tariffs will cost the company between $2.5 billion and $3.5 billion in 2026. Other major U.S. automakers, Ford and Stellantis, also project significant tariff costs for the year.
