Court documents allege that the U.S. Secret Service “illegally” monitored former FBI Director Comey in connection with the alleged “8647” threat case at Donald Trump
A new court document reveals that attorneys for former FBI Director James Comey allege the U.S. Secret Service “deliberately conducted illegal electronic surveillance on Comey” at the request of a senior Justice Department official. The allegation stems from May 2025, shortly after former U.S. President Donald Trump claimed that Comey had threatened to “assassinate” him by posting a photo on Instagram showing the numbers “8647” arranged from seashells.Comey’s attorney stated that a senior official at the Secret Service had indicated that such warrantless surveillance was “legally questionable,” but that the agency “might still proceed with it.”
