Guyana's oil production has reached nearly one million barrels per day and is expected to increase to 1.9 million barrels per day by 2030.

Guyana, a South American nation, has rapidly emerged as a major oil exporter, with daily production currently approaching 1 million barrels (888,000 barrels as of the end of May 2026), making it South America’s third-largest oil producer. With the start of production at several new projects by companies such as ExxonMobil, Guyana’s daily oil production (including condensate) is expected to increase to 1.9 million barrels by 2030. By then, Guyana is expected to surpass Venezuela to become South America’s second-largest oil producer, second only to Brazil. This growth will significantly enhance energy security in the Americas, particularly as tensions in the Middle East impact global supply; Guyana’s oil exports do not rely on the Strait of Hormuz or the Red Sea.
