Singapore's MAS reports 37 licensed virtual asset service providers (VASPs) from nearly 300 applications, emphasizing stringent regulation and FATF recognition for its robust framework.
In a written reply to a parliamentary question on August 5, Singapore's Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of MAS, Gan Kim Yong, stated that the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) has licensed 37 Digital Payment Token Service Providers (DPTSPs), which are regulated as VASPs, out of nearly 300 applications. MAS applies stringent licensing criteria and maintains close supervision over these entities to mitigate money laundering and proliferation financing risks. The Financial Action Task Force (FATF) recently recognized the strength of Singapore's anti-money laundering and counter-terrorism financing (AML/CFT) framework and MAS' effectiveness in regulating DPTSPs.
