Google announced on Wednesday that its AI division is undergoing a reorganization. Chief Scientist Jeff Dean is leaving the company after 27 years to start his own firm, in which Google will invest. Additionally, Demis Hassabis, CEO of Google DeepMind, will transition to Chairman of the division, and DeepMind CTO Koray Kavukcuoglu will take over the day-to-day management of the AI division and be responsible for developing the next-generation AI model, Gemini 4.
