Silver September futures opened at $62.20 per ounce on Thursday, marking its highest price since June
The opening price was down 0.1% from Wednesday's closing price but up over 4% from yesterday's opening price. Prices later moved lower to $61.73 per ounce as of 9:12 a.m. ET. Precious metal prices are rising due to ongoing negotiations in the Middle East to partially reopen the Strait of Hormuz, and weaker job numbers, with ADP reporting a slowdown in July hiring.
