U.S. President Donald Trump has vowed to find and seek long-term jail sentences for "leakers" following several media reports that U.S. munitions stockpiles are dangerously depleted amid the war with Iran. The reports, including from Reuters, CBS, and CNN, indicated that the military has nearly exhausted its offensive missiles like ATACMS and is running "dangerously low" on defensive interceptors such as Patriot and THAAD systems.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump dismissed the claims, stating the U.S. has "massive amounts of 'munitions'" and that production is ramping up. This comes despite a CNN report on Tuesday stating that 80% of THAAD and about half of Patriot interceptors have been used since the war began on February 28. Experts have warned it could take years to replenish these stockpiles.
