Nick Timiraos of The Wall Street Journal commented that the Federal Reserve's independence is at an "interesting moment," as unlike last year's discussions around rate cuts, the question now is whether to raise rates. He noted that Fed Governor Cook stated in a recent speech that she is open to raising rates if inflation fails to make expected progress. Furthermore, the new Federal Reserve Chair has previously said that the Fed's independence "depends on the Fed itself."
