Saudi Intelligence Chief Meets Iraqi PM, Renews Riyadh Visit Invitation
Saudi intelligence chief Khalid bin Ali Al Humaidan met Iraqi Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi in Baghdad, renewing an invitation for al-Zaidi to visit Riyadh. The meeting aimed to resolve strained ties after al-Zaidi cancelled an earlier trip following a joint US-Saudi operation on July 29, which killed 20 fighters of Iraqi armed groups. Al-Zaidi's office stated the two focused on coordinating security issues, with al-Zaidi reiterating that Iraqi soil would not become a launchpad for attacks on any other country. Separately, the Iran-aligned Islamic Resistance in Iraq announced it was postponing a retaliatory strike for the US-Saudi operations.
