Anthropic will make Claude Code's auto mode the default for Pro, Max, and Team accounts starting August 14. The company stated that in auto mode, Claude Code will proceed with actions unless they are deemed irreversible, destructive, or outside the user's environment, reducing the need for human approval at each step. Testing showed auto mode caught 89% of harmful actions, compared to 13.6% for human review.
