According to technology media The Information, payment giant Stripe's acquisition talks with AI routing startup OpenRouter have entered an advanced stage, with the deal valued at approximately $10 billion. This news has triggered a chain reaction in the technology industry, bringing AI routing technology into focus. The technology aims to help companies optimize costs by intelligently switching between different AI models. Following the news, major tech companies such as Snowflake, Cloudflare, Vercel, and Baseten have all contacted routing startups to explore possibilities for cooperation, investment, or acquisition. Databricks had previously negotiated with OpenRouter and launched its internal routing product in June. In addition, Meta's AI incubator is developing an internal routing tool called Switchboard, and Ramp, Cursor, CoreWeave, and Palantir have also launched their respective routing products, demonstrating the giants' parallel strategy of building and acquiring in the AI routing domain.
