U.S. SEC to vote this week on proposing "Regulation Crypto" to support certain digital asset offerings
The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has scheduled a meeting for August 14 to vote on proposing its first major crypto rulemaking process, dubbed "Regulation Crypto." This formal rule aims to establish a regimented path for the legal issuance of digital assets, providing clarity for crypto firms to raise capital without triggering SEC registration requirements and offering an exit path from the agency's jurisdiction when projects are no longer actively managed. The move follows the recent failure of the Senate to advance the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act, which was intended to provide a legal foundation for U.S. crypto market rules.
