U.S. mortgage rates generally rose, with the 30-year fixed rate climbing to 6.59%, after Donald Trump said the U.S. was in "low-key" talks with Iran.
According to Zillow mortgage market data, as of August 11, the average interest rate for a 30-year fixed mortgage in the US was 6.59%, up 8 basis points from the previous day; the 15-year fixed mortgage rate was 5.97%, down 4 basis points; and the 5/1 ARM rate was 6.52%, up 15 basis points from Monday. This comes as former US President Donald Trump stated that the US is currently handling negotiations with Iran "quietly."
