The Bank of Japan published a research paper empirically analyzing the linkages of firm spending behavior along supply chains in Japan's manufacturing sector. The findings indicate that capital investment is influenced by downstream investment activity, and regular wage-setting appears to be affected by wage rates set by focal firms within the same supply chains. Additionally, evidence of bonus linkages originating from temporary foreign demand shocks was found.
