Samsung Electro-Mechanics' glass substrate project has been delayed from the second half of 2027 to after 2028 due to the failure to pass customer reliability certification.
According to Korean tech media The Elec, GlaSSEM, a glass core substrate company jointly established by Samsung Electro-Mechanics and Dongwoo Fine-Chem, failed to pass the reliability certification for glass substrate samples from a global communication semiconductor customer. This has led to continuous delays in equipment procurement schedules and a halt in production line construction.
