He held closed-door meetings with Iraqi political and security leaders, as well as commanders of Shiite paramilitary groups. Qaani's visit aimed to discuss the Iraqi government's plan to disarm armed groups and bring weapons under state control. Sources revealed that Iran, through Qaani, conveyed the message "not to hand over factional weapons at this time" and warned of a potential new war, emphasizing that political compromise should be sought instead of confrontation. Iraqi Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi is facing an increasingly severe political and security crisis, as September 30th is the deadline for all weapons to be brought under state control.
