Sony and TSMC's deal has boosted overseas investment in Japan's chipmaking industry to $37 billion
Sony Group and Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. recently announced an image sensor plant, contributing to the 6 trillion yen (approximately $37 billion) foreign investment in Japan's chip sector. TSMC alone has invested 3 trillion yen in two Japan foundries, including facilities in Kumamoto prefecture.
