The South Korean government held an inter-ministerial joint press conference on August 13 to announce its housing supply and financial support plan. During the conference, the Financial Services Commission (FSC) announced a significant expansion of public guarantee support for real estate project financing, increasing it from the previous 26.3 trillion Korean Won to over 47.8 trillion Korean Won, to promote housing development. Furthermore, to meet the housing financing needs of non-speculative homebuyers and renters (especially young people), the government will raise this year's household debt growth target from the originally planned 1.5% to approximately 3%. Concurrently, the equity capital requirements for real estate development projects will be postponed by two years to 2029.
