The White House today released a fact sheet providing more details on President Donald Trump’s National Security Presidential Memorandum, signed to rebuild the U.S. naval shipbuilding industrial base. The memorandum directs the Secretary of War to establish the first U.S. naval shipyard in over 80 years to enhance submarine and aircraft carrier repair capabilities. Additionally, the memorandum calls for the establishment of a component repair center and a comprehensive review, reform, and reorganization of the Naval Sea Systems Command to address long-standing challenges in naval shipbuilding.
