Morgan Stanley analyst Adam Jonas noted in his latest research report that by 2040, an estimated 2.2 billion robots will exist. If each robot is equipped with 500 watts of hashrate, they will collectively generate approximately 1.1 terawatts of hashrate, which could theoretically all be connected via Starlink to form a "distributed inference cloud." This contrasts with Morgan Stanley's own model, which predicts SpaceX's hashrate scale to be around 380 gigawatts by 2040. The report also mentioned that Elon Musk had discussed building a large-scale distributed hashrate network using idle Tesla vehicles and Megapods at Supercharger stations. Furthermore, Morgan Stanley believes that the 14th Starship flight is one of the most important stock price catalysts since SpaceX's IPO. It is expected to be the first capture attempt of the Starship upper stage/spaceship, with the hardware timeline pointing to a September flight. A successful capture would significantly reduce orbital costs, opening up new growth opportunities for SpaceX's space, connectivity, and AI businesses.
Morgan Stanley analyst Adam Jonas: Distributed hashrate from robot clusters could help SpaceX reach its 1 terawatt hashrate target faster than data centers by 2040.
