Meta this week released Glimmer, an open-weight AI model that users can download and run on their own hardware. This move contrasts with Meta's more powerful model, Muse Spark, which remains locked behind an API. Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg simultaneously published a letter arguing that AI should be "available to everyone," rather than controlled by a few laboratories.
