According to The Information, NVIDIA will invest $2 billion in Lancium for approximately 20% equity, with a potential additional $1 billion if Lancium secures more grid interconnections. Lancium is the power infrastructure developer behind the Stargate data center project, a joint venture by SoftBank, OpenAI, and Oracle, which was unveiled by President Donald Trump in January. NVIDIA's move aims to address power constraints facing large-scale AI chip deployments by investing in the infrastructure layer, ensuring long-term demand visibility for its GPU architecture. Lancium plans to use these funds to expand its operations and is considering an IPO as early as 2027.
