Bernstein analysis points out that the U.S. Federal Communications Commission (FCC)'s ban on new foreign-made mobile robots signals the beginning of decoupling between the U.S. and China in the robotics technology sector. The agency believes that restrictions could expand to AI chips and investment in the future, while China might retaliate through data control or rare-earth magnets. Potential beneficiaries include Tesla, Hesai Technology, Schaeffler, Harmonic Drive, as well as Horizon Robotics and Black Sesame Technologies. Meanwhile, Chinese robotics companies may increasingly turn to non-U.S. markets.
