Compound Finance, one of the oldest decentralized finance (DeFi) lending protocols, has replaced its leadership team and approved a $52 million budget to attract new capital. The move comes as the value of assets locked on the platform has tumbled from a peak of $12 billion in September 2021 to $1.2 billion. The company will now focus on attracting institutional users and plans to offer real-world assets, partner integration, and credit infrastructure for traditional financial markets. New appointees include Christopher Donovan as COO, Steven Liu as CPO, and Aaron Schnarch (former CEO of Coinbase Custody) as executive director, alongside other hires from traditional finance and crypto firms.
