Bitcoin and Ethereum opened higher on Tuesday but fell back during the day due to ongoing Middle East conflict
On Tuesday, August 18, Eastern Time, Bitcoin opened at $64,487.65, up 2.7% from Monday's opening price; Ethereum opened at $1,911.89, up 2% from Monday's opening price. As of 9:19 AM Eastern Time, Bitcoin's price had fallen back to $64,080.23, and Ethereum had fallen back to $1,895.37. Cryptocurrency prices fell due to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East. Since the conflict began in late February, Bitcoin has fallen by 4.4%, and Ethereum by 5.7%.
