Oracle's key AI data center "Stargate" seeks rerouting for its accompanying natural gas pipeline after two rejections, pushing its operational date to February 2027.
After being rejected twice by the New Mexico State Land Office, Transwestern, a subsidiary of Energy Transfer LP, the builder of the proposed pipeline to supply natural gas to Oracle's large AI data center "Project Jupiter" (also known as "Stargate"), submitted a new proposal to the U.S. Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) on August 17, seeking to lay part of the pipeline on land managed by the U.S. Bureau of Land Management (BLM) to bypass state land. The pipeline, originally scheduled to commence operations on August 15, has been delayed until February 1, 2027. The data center, located in New Mexico, will serve OpenAI and plans to build a 2.5-gigawatt natural gas-fueled power generation facility with a total investment of up to $165 billion.
