Iranian academic Maryam Tahmasebi accuses US of 'bloodline punishment' over family's detention and green card revocation
Tahmasebi, a US permanent resident, stated in The Nation magazine that she, her husband, and their son have been detained since April. The US State Department revoked their immigration status due to her husband's mother, Masoumeh Ebtekar, being a spokesperson for the 1979 Iran hostage takers. Tahmasebi's legal team asserts no national security charges have been filed against the family.
