OpenAI reportedly revoked "trusted access" program privileges for some cybersecurity researchers, possibly due to technical issues.
Multiple cybersecurity researchers have reported that they suddenly lost access to OpenAI's "Trusted Access for Cyber" (TAC) program. This program is designed to provide vetted users with less restricted AI models to help identify vulnerabilities and conduct security research. OpenAI has responded via email and forums, stating that this is a "technical issue affecting a small number of users" and has asked affected researchers to reapply and complete the verification process. All affected researchers reside outside the United States and Europe, suggesting that the revocation might be geographically limited. OpenAI launched Daybreak Blue, the latest tier of its TAC program, on August 10th, allowing access to cutting-edge general models including GPT-5.6 Sol, and offering tailored assurances for defensive security work.
