Human Rights Watch released a report stating that increased attacks by Israeli settlers, coupled with the rapid expansion of settlements, are driving the forced displacement of Palestinians. The report accuses Israeli authorities of arming, funding, and granting impunity to settlers to carry out these attacks. Since the current government took office in December 2022, violence by Israeli settlers has been on the rise, with a surge in attacks particularly during the first two months of the war between the US and Israel against Iran. These attacks include killing children, sexual violence, physical and psychological abuse, arbitrary detention, arson, property destruction, and theft. Human Rights Watch recommends targeted sanctions against individuals suspected of ongoing abuses, suspending arms transfers to Israel, and prohibiting trade with illegal settlements, while also urging countries to consider suspending preferential trade agreements with Israel.
