Orbital data center startup Starcloud completes $250 million funding round, valued at $2.3 billion
Starcloud, a satellite company developing orbital AI inference, has raised an additional $250 million in a funding extension, following its $170 million Series A round in March, bringing the company's valuation to $2.3 billion. This additional capital will be used to expand manufacturing facilities and advance its largest orbital data center spacecraft, Starcloud-3, which is planned to launch on SpaceX's Starship rocket. CEO Philip Johnston stated that given the increasingly tight rocket transport market, the company is actively raising funds to secure satellite launch capabilities and has applied to the FCC to operate 88,000 satellites.
