Analysis points out that memory chip stocks such as Micron, SanDisk, and Hynix have risen sharply in the past year, and this cycle may be different from historical ones.
Analysis suggests that Micron's stock price has surged over 700% in the past year, Sandisk nearly 3400%, and SK Hynix's Korean stock price 600%, thanks to soaring prices, expanding gross margins, and substantial free cash flow. This memory chip super cycle is primarily driven by AI infrastructure construction, leading to strong demand and supply shortages for High Bandwidth Memory (HBM). Although history indicates that memory chip stocks eventually decline, analysts believe this cycle might be different due to sustained AI demand, limited HBM production, and memory chip manufacturers securing long-term contracts for the first time. Therefore, related stocks are still considered worthwhile AI holdings.
