According to The Information, citing sources familiar with the matter, NVIDIA plans to participate in Perplexity's new multi-billion dollar funding round. This move is another step in NVIDIA's recent push into the AI software sector, aiming to accelerate its expansion from AI infrastructure to the software and application layers. Perplexity's annualized revenue has grown from less than $250 million at the beginning of the year to over $750 million, primarily driven by businesses such as its AI agent product, Perplexity Computer. NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang has publicly stated that Perplexity is his daily AI chat tool, and NVIDIA has previously participated in multiple funding rounds for the company. Last week, NVIDIA also announced a $6 billion investment to license model development software from AI startup Poolside and plans to recruit over a hundred of its employees.
