Yahoo Finance Review: Gemini exchange offers bank-grade security and regulation, but has higher trading fees and limited coin selection
Reviews indicate that the Gemini exchange, founded by the Winklevoss brothers in 2014, operates as a New York trust company and is strictly regulated by state banking authorities, having reported no loss of customer funds for over a decade. The exchange was listed on Nasdaq in September 2025, offering up to $250,000 in federal deposit insurance and commercial insurance for some cryptocurrencies. However, its basic all-in trading cost is approximately 2.47%, with maker fees of 0.60% and taker fees of 1.20% in ActiveTrader mode, which are higher than some major competitors, and it only supports about 90 coins. Gemini also provides staking services for Ethereum, Solana, and Monad, and added prediction markets in late 2025.
