The Motley Fool's analysis suggests that despite Bitcoin and Ethereum currently accounting for 70% of the total crypto market capitalization, with a combined market cap of $1.8 trillion, Solana (SOL), the world's seventh-largest cryptocurrency, still has the potential to surpass them in the future. Solana's current market cap is approximately $52 billion, meaning it would need to achieve about 100 times growth to match the potential $5 trillion market cap that Bitcoin and Ethereum might reach in the next five years. The analysis points out that the rapid development in the DeFi sector, along with Solana's proactive positioning in stablecoins and asset tokenization, could be key catalysts for its high-speed growth. Investment firm VanEck once predicted that Solana could reach $3,211 by 2030, but to surpass the combined total of Bitcoin and Ethereum, Solana would need to develop "killer applications" and become a ubiquitous component of the global financial system, realizing the vision of "Netflix for finance."
